READY TO SELL

Have you ever lost time, compensation, or – worst of all – the trust of a valued client because your FMO failed to manage your carrier onboarding correctly?

Our team will keep you in the loop as you progress toward Ready-to-Sell status with a company, and help you hit the ground running as quickly as possible.

Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plan agents will be asked to complete carrier-specific online training, in addition to completing a nationally recognized Medicare Basics course such as AHIP each year. These agents need to pay special attention to contracting and ensure all non-resident licensing is recognized by the carrier. Agents can have non-resident state licenses, but fail to be appointed with an individual carrier, causing them to be denied compensation. Agents must have received clear consent from each individual plan provider before representing MA related plans.

Medicare Supplement agents may be asked to complete carrier-specific training, in addition to becoming authorized for multiple lines of authority with the Department of Insurance. For example, most states allow agents with a health license to represent Supplement carriers, but the state of North Carolina requires an LTC/Medicare Supplement line of authority before these plans can be sold. Non-resident producers can substitute additional testing with a fee.

Life agents may be asked to complete carrier-specific online training, in addition to providing Anti-Money Laundering (AML) training. Since AML updates are required every 2 years, we can provide advice on how to complete and provide verification efficiently.

Annuity agents may be asked to complete carrier-specific online training, in addition to providing proof of AML. In certain states, a 4-hour Continuing Education (CE) course is required, taken at any point in your career as an agent. Those states can be found here.

Ready-to-Sell status looks different for each agent, carrier, and product type. Agencies have different layers of contracting to consider and put in place, and individuals may need extra guidance to protect their renewal stream. Please keep in mind that some Life and Annuity carriers operate on a “Just in Time” basis, while others pre-appoint. The UAR team is here to navigate you through the onboarding process and to guide you to success.
